A lively trade at Tattersalls’ Autumn Horses In Training Sale continued in Newmarket Oct. 29 when Great Voltigeur Stakes (Eng-II) runner-up Top Lock (GB) (Nayef) sold for 410,000 guineas to Saudi agent Saad Al Kahtani.

The 3-year-old will be trained in Saudi Arabia for Prince Faisal bin Khalid by South African-born Neil Bruss. The colt was bought through Broadfields Bloodstock, the agency run by Bruss’ brother, Robin.

Top Lock’s trainer Andrew Balding was also responsible for the day’s second highest price when Kalahari Gold (Ire) (Trans Island) was bought by Hamdan Al Maktoum’s stud manager Johnny Peter-Hoblyn for 370,000gns. Hong Kong trainer Peter Ho was underbidder.

Dubai-based owner Malih Al Basti paid 250,000gns for Juddmonte’s Listed-placed home-bred Weald (GB) and 180,000gns for the same consignor’s French winner World Ruler (GB).

The sale concludes Oct. 30.

History was made at Tattersalls when Rebetica (GB), became the first horse sold online in Europe, bought for 800gns by Swedish trainer Karin Lindberger.
