Darley America has announced the stud fees for its 16 stallions for the 2009 breeding season. All stallions, with the exception of Street Cry, Elusive Quality , and E Dubai , have had their fees reduced from their 2008 levels.
The roster is led by Street Cry, whose fee has been upped to $150,000 from $100,000. Street Boss, Street Cry’s multiple grade I-winning son, retires to stud at Darley for the 2009 season and will stand for a fee of $25,000. Elusive Quality’s fee remains at $75,000, and E Dubai is priced again at $15,000.
John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock adviser, said, “Darley is reducing all stud fees in the U.S. with the exception of Street Cry, Elusive Quality, and E Dubai, who all had Breeders’ Cup winners over the weekend. We are hopeful that by the time the decisions of 2009 are judged at the yearling sales in 2011, that there will have been an upturn in the economy, but we believe that breeders looking for value in 2009 have the greatest chance of success.”
Darley America, located near Lexington, dropped Bernardini’s fee from $100,000 to $75,000. Street Sense went from $75,000 to $60,000, and Hard Spun from $50,000 to $40,000.
