Locally-based agent Bobby O’Ryan bought the two six-figure lots at Goffs’ Horses In Training Sale in Co. Kildare, Ireland, Oct. 23.
Red Moloney, a stakes winner by Sahm who also finished third in the group I Irish Field St. Leger for trainer Kevin Prendergast, topped the sale when selling for 150,000 euros (US$192,300). O’Ryan also spent 120,000 euros (US$153,845) on 3-year-old Timari, a colt being sold by the Aga Khan.
Both horses were bought as jumping prospects for owner Graham Wylie and will join English trainer Howard Johnson.
The sale grossed 1,143,400 euros (US$1,465,885) for 118 sold at an average of 9,690 euros (US$12,423) and median of 3,000 euros (US$3,846). The clearance rate was 61.8%. There was no comparable day in 2007.
The Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale also began on Oct. 23 and concludes Oct. 24. The top price on opening day was the 30,000 euros (US$38,460) paid by the De Burgh Farrington agency for an Elusive City colt.
