Southern Equine’s Elusive Bluff, a 15-1 morning line entrant in the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I), was scratched Oct. 23 after a problem was detected in the colt’s right hind foot.

Nick Hines, Southern Equine’s racing manager, said it appeared the Elusive Quality   colt kicked his stall. Although there is no swelling in the area, Hines said there was a bruise. Even if there was no swelling and it was determined not to be major, Hines said the medications being given the colt would preclude him from running.

Elusive Bluff is undefeated, breaking his maiden before winning the Pilgrim Stakes (gr. III).
