Dual listed stakes winner Alfie Flits headed Doncaster’s October horses in training sale Oct. 22 when selling for £95,000 ($162,133) to trainer Jennie Candlish as a dual-purpose prospect.
By Machiavellian out of the Unfuwain mare Elhilmeya, the 6-year-old raced for Dom Flit and was trained by Alan Swinbank.
The second highest price of £80,000 ($136,533) came for the Aga Khan’s Mourad, who was bought as a jumping prospect by Irish agent Bobby O’Ryan.
The sale’s £1.2 million turnover for the 236 sold dropped 14.8%, the £5,084 average fell 13.4%, and the £2,400 median was down 23.8% per cent. The 65% clearance rate compared with 73% last year.
A year ago, 280 were sold for £1,643,985, an average of £5,871 and a median of £3,150.
