Communique will not run in the $2-million Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Oct. 24 due to a foot abscess in her right front leg.

George “Rusty” Arnold, Communique’s trainer, told Breeders’ Cup officials he detected a pulse in the foot the morning of Oct. 20. The trainer said the injury was not serious and that Comminque would race again.

Bred and owned by G. Watts Humphrey Jr., Communique is a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Smart Strike, out of the Pleasand Colony mare Martinque. In her most recent start, Communique finished third in the Sept. 27 Flower Bowl Invitational (gr. IT) at Belmont Park Sept. 27.

Winner of the Modesty Handicap (gr. IIIT) earlier this year, she finished second to Mauralkana in the Aug. 9 Beverly D. (gr. IT) at Arlington Park. She has a record of 4-4-3 from 17 starts and earnings of $557,634.
