A weanling daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus brought $95,000 to top the New York Breeders’ Sales Co.’s fall breeding stock sale, which was held at Saratoga Race Course Oct. 12. Destined Farm purchased the bay filly from Five Oak Farm, agent.
The $95,000 weanling is out of the 11-year-old winning Honor Grades mare Honor Lass, who is a half-sister to grade III winner Vesta. Other members of the family include grade I winner Lion Tamer and stakes winners Amalie and Amalake.
New York Breeders’ Sales reported on its Web site that 160 lots, including stallion seasons, were sold for a gross of $1,787,650. The average price was $11,173, and the median was $5,000. A little more than 50% of the offerings failed to find new homes.
In 2007, the 170 horses that were sold grossed $1,778,700 and averaged $10,463. The median for the 50 select weanlings that sold was $19,000. The median for the 120 horses that sold in the open portion of the auction was $2,500.
