Away, the dam of the ill-fated Eight Belles, has been entered in the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. An 11-year-old daughter of Dixieland Band, Away is Hip No. 271 and will be offered during the auction’s opening session Nov. 3 in Lexington. She is in foal to Eight Belles's sire, Unbridled's Song  .

Eight Belles captured this year’s Fantasy (gr. II), Honeybee (gr. III), and Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn Park. She broke down after finishing second to Big Brown in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and was euthanized.

Robert Clay, who owns Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky, bred Eight Belles in partnership with Serengeti Stable. The filly’s yearling half-sister, a daughter of Empire Maker  , sold for $320,000 at this year’s Keeneland September yearling auction. Away produced a colt by Dynaformer   earlier this year.

Three Chimneys Sales will consign Away to the Keeneland November sale.
