Secret Savings, a son of Seeking the Goldstanding at Emirates Park in New South Wales, Australia, has been withdrawn from service because of a back complaint that is preventing him from covering mares.

Broodmare owners with bookings to the 17-year-old stallion were informed about the development when it first became apparent on day one of the breeding season.

A decision was then made to postpone duties for Secret Savings for a period of 21 days in order for the stallion to recover.

However, Emirates Park director of operations Dr. Shalabh Sahu has confirmed that the injury has shown only marginal improvement.

"I would like to stress that the curtain has only been brought down on his 2008 breeding season and not his stud career,” Sahu said. "Secret Savings is still a very fertile horse, and we fully expect to be standing him on a commercial basis again next year."

Secret Savings, a Kentucky-bred out of the Damascus mare Jurisdictional, was a grade I winner in Australia. He has sired 14 stakes winners.
