A U.S.-bred Sahm colt, which had been bought for $15,000 at Keeneland in January by Beech Tree Farm, rose in price to 80,000 euros (approximately $116,651) Sept. 23 to top the opening session of Tattersalls Ireland’s September yearling sale.

Agent Frank Barry, who has bought many smart performers for trainer Kevin Prendergast in past years at this sale, signed for the top lot, which was re-offered through Bill Dwan’s Castlebridge consignment.

Breeze-up consignor Con Marnane was another in action, spending 65,000 euros ($94,779) on a Kheleyf colt bred by Michael Dalton and offered through Broguestown Stud.

The only offering cataloged by 2001 group I St. Leger winner Milan, who stands under Coolmore’s National Hunt division, realized 63,000 euros ($91,863). The half-brother to group III Prix du Lys winner Airmail Special was consigned from Joe Hernon’s Castletown Stud and was bought by agent John O’Byrne.

The sale concludes Sept. 24.
