George Bango, who trained at Turf Paradise and Canterbury Park, died Sept. 11 in Phoenix. He was 74.
Bango won 234 races from 2,332 starters from 1977 up through his retirement last year. He won stakes with Master’s Monday and Superman Can. The latter captured the 2004 Claiming Crown Iron Horse Stakes at Canterbury.
Bango, who served in the Air Force during the Korean War, is survived by his wife, Mary, and several children.
