Leading European sire Galileo was reportedly recovering from colic surgery performed Sept. 18 at Fethard Equine Hospital. According to The Racing Post, the Coolmore stallion was taken into the hospital through the evening having been uncomfortable through the afternoon. A son of Sadler's Wells who entered stud in 2002, Galileo has quickly moved to the upper echelon of the European stallion ranks.

“Galileo had colic surgery yesterday evening," Coolmore's general manager Christy Grassick told the Post. "We are delighted with his progress overnight and his recovery has been uneventful. He is doing very well and we expect him to be returning back to Coolmore very shortly.”

Galileo is the sire of 15 group I winners and five this year, including New Approach, Lush Lashes, Epsom's Coronation Cup winner Solider Of Fortune, Red Rocks.
