Mongoose, a grade I winner, has been sold to stand at Rancho Sur Farm in Peru. The 10-year-old son of Broad Brush stood in 2008 at Brent Fernung’s Journeyman Stud near Ocala, Fla.

Mongoose, who entered stud in 2003, has sired 29 winners, including stakes winner Gorgeous Goose and stakes-placed Steady Slew. His runners have earned $1 million.

Campaigned by Gary and Mary West Stables, Mongoose was at his best as a 4-year-old, when he won the Donn Handicap (gr. I) and ran second in the Gulfstream Park Handicap (gr. I) in consecutive starts. At 2, he won the Miller Genuine Draft Cradle Stakes. He was produced from the Cox’s Ridge mare Salty Gal.
