Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program’s (at Purple Haze Center) fourth annual Winners Round-Up Dinner is auctioning Big Brown and Curlin Halters on Ebay prior to the Sept. 19 event.

To benefit the retired equine athletes of Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, the owners of both Big Brown and Curlin have donated their halters and other memorabilia to be auctioned off to raise money for the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program. FLTAP is challenging fans of these two winning horses to show their support for their favorite horse by bidding on Ebay for the item of their choice:

Big Brown’s Halter (Item id: 260285868207)

Curlin’s Halter (Item id: 260285874116)

If the reserve is not met the item will be sold as part of the annual dinner.  Doors will open at 6:00 pm EDT for the fun-filled evening which includes a silent and live auction, live entertainment and a western themed barbeque dinner. Additional live auction items include: autographed sports memorabilia, jewelry and a Plasma TV. Tickets are available by calling (585) 924-3232 ext. 292 at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack or visit www.fingerlakestap.org for more information. Individual tickets are $50 each or tables for 8 are available for $500.

FLTAP opened the Purple Haze Center, a 10,000 square foot thoroughbred adoption facility, in November, 2007. It is the first adoption program built on the grounds of a thoroughbred race track, which makes it a ground breaking program in the industry.

Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program, Inc., a non-profit organization, was formed in 2004 as the result of a joint effort between Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack and the Finger Lakes Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Association (HBPA). Base funding is supplied by both organizations, an industry first. Its mission is to assist in the placement of former Finger Lakes race horses with approved equine adoption agencies and private individuals, giving these horses a second chance at productive lives. Over 400 horses have been placed by the organization to date since its inception. For more information, visit www.fingerlakestap.org.
