Rider Campbell Begins Rotator Cuff Rehab
Arlington Park jockey Jesse Campbell, injured in a spill during the running of the Sept. 6 Honor Glide Stakes, has been diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and has started what will be approximately two weeks of therapy on Sept. 9. “Jesse has been getting a little better each day,” said Campbell’s fiancée, Allyson Morrissey, on the morning of Sept. 10. “Nothing is broken and he has good movement. The plan is to have him undergo physical therapy every day, let him gradually rebuild his strength and then see how quickly he improves. Also, his neck is still sore, but that’s also getting better each day. “Realistically, he might not be able to return to riding before the Arlington season ends (Sept. 21),” said Morrissey, “but hopefully he will be ready for Hawthorne.” Campbell, 30, is currently second in the local standings behind defending champion Rene Douglas, who is already assured his sixth Arlington title. A native of nearby Lake Zurich, Campbell has 68 wins at the session, with 51 seconds, and 78 thirds from 464 mounts. |
