Washington Racing Official Ted Martin Dead

Ted Martin, who served as general manager of the outfit that manages Playfair Race Course near Spokane, Wash., died June 19 at his home of a heart attack. He was 67.

A former Quarter Horse trainer, Martin also worked as a state steward, racing secretary, and director of racing during his three-decade long association with Playfair, and at one time served several years as executive director of the Idaho State Racing Commission.

Martin's survivors include his wife, Beverly.
