Lane's End Stallions Top Day 2 Sires
Kingmambo, an 18-year-old son of Mr. Prospector who stood for a $300,000 fee when the current yearling crop was conceived in 2006, was represented by three yearlings that averaged $875,000. He stood for a $250,000 fee in 2008. A.P. Indy, the Lane’s End stallion who topped the list during the Sept. 8 first session, had 10 yearlings sell during the second day for an average price of $631,500. His yearlings included the session topper, a colt out of the Halo mare Taegu, with $300,000 the lowest amount paid for one of his yearlings during the session. A.P. Indy, who stood for $300,000 in 2006, was also the leading sire of yearlings for the first two days of the sale, with 21 yearlings selling for a gross of $13,590,000, an average price of $647,142. El Prado, who stands at Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs near Paris, Ky., was the third-leading sire during the second session, with three yearlings averaging $615,000, a healthy return on the 2006 fee of $125,000 for the 19-year-old son of Sadler’s Wells. Fourth- and fifth-leading sires Sept. 9 were Storm Cat and Distorted Humor . Storm Cat, the 25-year-old son of Storm Bird who stood at the Young family’s Overbrook Farm before being pensioned earlier this year, had nine yearlings average $568,889. Distorted Humor, a 15-year-old son of Forty Niner who stood for a 2006 fee of $150,000 at Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt's WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky., was represented by 11 yearlings that averaged $504,091.
