Valid Expectations Tops 2-Year-Old List

Huisache Farm stallion Valid Expectations now tops the 2-year-old sire list.
First-crop stallion Valid Expectations moved up from third to first on the sires of 2-year-old list when his son Expected Hour won the June 16 Victoria Stakes at Woodbine in his career debut. Expected Hour earned $66,120 for his effort, and helped advance his sire's progeny earnings total for the year to $278,290.

Valid Expectations also is the sire of two-time stakes winner Expected Program. Unbeaten Expected Program has captured the Willard L. Proctor Memorial and Haggin Stakes, both at Hollywood Park, and has earnings of $119,130. Valid Expectations (Valid Appeal--Mepache, by Iron Constitution) stands at William S. Farish's Huisache Farm near Hempstead, Texas.

Kentucky stallion Storm Cat put on a sizable move on the general sires list, advancing from 15th to ninth. Storm Cat was represented by graded stakes winners Batique and Saudi Poetry on June 16. The former won the Vinery Matchmaker Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Monmouth Park, and Saudi Poetry took the Fleur de Lis Handicap (gr. III) at Churchill Downs. Storm Cat (Storm Bird--Terlingua, by Secretariat) stands at William T. Young's Overbrook Farm near Lexington. .
