From Del Mar notes

McCann's Mojave, fourth in the Hollywood Gold Cup, took a step toward the Aug. 24 Pacific Classic (gr. I) at Del Mar the morning of Aug. 10 with a sizzling six-furlong move in 1:10.60 at Golden Gate Fields for trainer Steve Specht.

The 8-year-old California-bred son of Memo, who has posted career earnings of more than $1.5 million, would be making his 36th lifetime start if he goes in Del Mar's signature event. Owner Mike Willman said a decision on a Pacific Classic start will be made Aug. 12.

Nominations for the Pacific Classic close Aug. 14.
