Stricter Calif. Steriod Penalties OK'd The California Horse Racing Board passed the new rule July 17 moving stanozolol, boldenone, nandrolone, and testosterone from Class 4 to Class 3 and from Category D to Category B penalties. As of Sept. 4, the presence of any of these anabolic steroids in a horse's post-race sample above the authorized levels set forth by the board will result in the automatic disqualification of the horse and redistribution of the purse. Category B penalties call for a minimum 30-day suspension and a fine up to $10,000. Until then, stanozolol, boldenone, nandrolone, and testosterone will remain Class 4 violations and Category D penalties. All other anabolic steroids have been Class 2 or Class 3 violations and Category B penalties since July 1.
