North American audiences are about to see the very first galloper by Australian sire sensation Redoute’s Choice race in their own back yard in an allowance contest at Del Mar Aug. 10.

Prominent Australian owner Nick Moraitis will be breaking new ground that day when he shows off his debut runner outside his native Australia with the 4-year-old colt Prince Rexy over 1 1/16 miles on turf for trainer Neil Drysdale.

Redoute’s Choice, who has dominated Australian sales rings for the past three years, breaking yearling sales records along the way, covered 70 mares during the Northern Hemisphere season last year as a result of his prepotency in Australasia.

Prince Rexy comes to the United States with no great reputation, having had just one run in his life. It was in a low-key maiden race worth $12,000 at Bendigo in Victoria on turf which he won narrowly over six furlongs last September.

It is the hope of Moraitis, who shot to fame on Aussie race tracks 10 years ago through the exploits of his multiple champion Might And Power, is that Prince Rexy races his way into prominence so he can someday be a stallion prospect.
