Racing photographer Jack Coady Sr. succumbed to a battle with cancer at his home in Glendale, Ariz. Aug. 4. He was 80.
A native of Petaluma, Calif., Coady began his career as a photographer for The Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette newspapers, and also freelanced for Life and Time magazines.
In 1962, he started Coady Photography at Turf Paradise, where he remained the principal executive until the time of his death.
Now operated by his sons Jack and Jeff, and his grandsons, Coady Photography services the Thoroughbred, American Quarter Horse, and American Standardbred racing industries at 17 tracks across the United States.
Coady’s survivors include his wife, Jane Coady; sons Jack Jr., Clay, and Jeff; and siblings Merylee Wilson, Shirley Van Henkelum, Elizabeth Gariti, and Robert Coady.
A prayer service is scheduled for Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6180 W. Utopia Road, Glendale, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
