Russell Baze moved into fourth place on the career victory list for jockeys.
Baze rode three winners Saturday at Bay Meadows -- Red Work in the fourth race, Betrayer in the fifth, and Alltime Blues in the sixth -- to increase his total to 7,399.
He passed David Gall, who retired with 7,396 victories.
Baze now trails only Laffit Pincay Jr., the only rider with more than 9,000 career wins, Bill Shoemaker (8,833) and Pat Day (8,025). Pincay and Day remain active.
Smith's milestone win was his second victory on the card. Earlier in the day, Smith was in the irons for Bella Drive's two-length win in a six-furlong maiden race.
