Helen of Troy, dam of champion Thor’s Echo, was euthanized June 30 because of complications from laminitis. The 12-year-old daughter of Mr. Integrity was kept at Bud Johnston’s Old English Rancho near Sanger, Calif.
Thor’s Echo, by Swiss Yodeler, was voted 2006 champion sprinter after winning the TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) and Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (gr. I). Now 6, he last raced June 7 in the True North Handicap (gr. II), finishing fourth.
Helen of Troy was bred in California by Steve Warner’s Fast Lane Farms and Derek Meredith and was unraced. Thor’s Echo is her sole winner from five foals of racing age.
Helen of Troy is out of the Time to Explode mare King's Thunder. Her last registered foal is a Swiss Yodeler yearling filly named Thorellen.
