Borgemenke Out as Magna VP

Scott Borgemenke

Scott Borgemenke, the former Ohio State Racing Commission chairman who joined Magna Entertainment Corp. as executive vice president of racing earlier this year, departed from the company, effective July 18.

The announcement was made July 21 in a statement from MEC chairman and CEO Frank Stronach.

"Scott has helped MEC move forward on a number of important operational initiatives. We very much appreciate his efforts, and we wish him well," Stronach said In the release,

Borgemenke said, "MEC is a company with enormous growth opportunities. I wish my friends there nothing but success, and will continue to provide any counsel I can. I will watch intently as the MEC team implements its strategic plan. Unfortunately, at this point in my life, my corporate and family responsibilities conflict."

Borgemenke was chairman of the ORC from 2002 to 2004 and later joined the staff of Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted. He was also a chief policy advisor and director of cabinet affairs for Gov. Robert Taft, and also worked in the Ohio Senate as director of finance and chief of staff for former Senate President Stanley J. Aronoff. His resume also includes a stint as executive director of the Cincinnati Business Committee in 1996.
