Lone Star Rider Bryan McNeil Breaks Arm McNeil suffered the injury when he jumped from his mount, Mr. Smee, after the 5-year-old gelding ran erratically down the backstretch of the five-furlong turf sprint. "The doctors took X-rays and set his arm," said agent Larry Spraker, who was in the hospital with McNeil on the night of the mishap. "He's home now and he's okay, but the doctors are going to take another look at him to make sure that his arm is set right." Spraker said that McNeil's recovery time has not been determined. He said the jockey planned to move his tack to Remington Park in Oklahoma following the Lone Star Park meet, which ends July 27. Since the start of the Lone Star spring/summer meet April 10, McNeil's mounts had 10 wins in 192 starts while finishing in the money 50 times. His purses at the stand totaled $242,893. |
