Graded stakes winner Popular came through with his first winner when a daughter, Fashionita, won July 18 at Solano. A homebred for Rod and Lorraine Rodriguez, Fashionita captured a 5 1/2 -furlong race in 1:03.28.
A California-bred, Fashionita is the second winner from two starters from the stakes-winning Devil On Ice mare Ivy Lane.
Popular (Saint Ballado—Western Lady, by Gone West) stands at Cottonwood Creek Ranch near Cottonwood, Calif. His 2008 fee was private.
