Central Kentucky farm owner and consignor Sidney D. Kleeman Jr. died July 4.

A Los Angeles native, Kleeman owned Matagorda Farm near Georgetown, Ky., and consigned in the farm name. At the 2003 Keeneland September yearling sale, Matagorda sold as agent a Storm Catcolt for $2.6 million to Coolmore Stud associate Demi O’Byrne. The price was the fourth-highest that year for a yearling colt. Named Indigo Cat, he developed into a stakes winner for Coolmore associates Susan Magnier and Michael Tabor.

Kleeman’s survivors include his wife, Kristin, and sons Ryan and Jennings. In lieu flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ryan and Jennings Kleeman Educational Fund, c/o National City Bank, 280 W. New Circle Road, Lexington, Ky., 40505.
