Gene Cunningham, Shipping Owner, Dead

Gene Cunningham, longtime California horseman and husband of California Thoroughbred Breeders Association president Leigh Ann Howard, died July 5, according to the CTBA. He was 88.

Cunningham operated a breeding and lay-up farm in Murrieta, Calif. He started a commercial national horse transportation company named Fox Hollow Inc. The company eventually became Hubbard Horse Transport. Cunningham acted as consigning agent for his and other shipping companies at horse sales all over the country for many years.

His survivors include his wife and two sons.
