Tattersalls July Sale Starts Tuesday

Tattersalls’ mixed July sale begins July 8 in Newmarket, England, and includes a number of attractive racing and breeding prospects in its 915-lot catalog.

Recent July sale graduates that made their mark in the United States include Rebellion, who won the Commonwealth Stakes (gr. II) after  having cost 30,000 guineas at the 2006 edition of the auction, and  Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap (gr. IT) second Monzante, who changed hands for 100,000 guineas a year ago.

This year's horses in training include Lot 602, 3-year-old Redolent, who was group I-placed as a juvenile and won this season’s Heron Stakes at Kempton.

A notable mare is Lot 185, 5-year-old Looker (by Barathea), a half-sister to last month’s Juddmonte Epsom Oaks (Eng-I) winner Look Here offered from Richard Kent’s Mickley Stud and covered by Multiplex.

Lot 225, Lamanka Lass (by Woodman), is the 13-year-old dam of Oak Tree Derby (gr. IIT) winner Dark Islander  while Lot 245, Boast (by Most Welcome), is the dam of stakes winner Strut and was in Dylan Thomas’ first book of mares.

Tattersalls marketing director Jimmy George said, "This year’s catalogue reflects the growing quality that buyers have found at the July sale in recent years with some very well-bred and attractively-covered mares as well as some eye-catching fillies and horses in training."

The sales runs Tuesday through July 11.
