Millionaire sprinter Big Jag remains in the Dubai Equine Clinic following a March training accident that left the gelding with a fractured left sesamoid. Big Jag was in Dubai preparing for the Dubai Golden Shaheen, a race he won in 2000, when the career ending injury occurred.

Big Jag is scheduled to leave Dubai at the end of the month and will be shipped to Newmarket, England where he will spend about two months before returning to California, said owner Julis Zolezzi.

"No surgery was preformed, and he was never lame. The sesamoid knitted back together on it's own," said trainer Tim Pinfield. "He was sore and has been in a cast for a long time, and you always worry about foundering, but things came together and we saved him."

Big Jag retires with $1,800,329 in earnings. In 30-career starts he won 13 times, including eight added-money scores. His biggest wins came in the Palos Verdes Handicap, Potero Grande Breeders' Cup Handicap, and the San Carlos Handicap, all grade II and the Dubai Golden Shaheen.

"He's had excellent care while in Dubai, and it's the very least we can do to put him on a farm where he can live out the rest of his life. He's been very good to us," said Zolezzi, who added no retirement location has been decided for Big Jag.
