Grade II winner Saarland’s first winner, Collegiate, won June 19 at Belmont Park in her first start. The Kentucky-bred filly captured the five-furlong race by 2 1/4 lengths in :57.53 for Team Valor International. Bred by Jess Jackson’s Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, the filly is a half-sister to stakes winners Good Student and The Student and is out of the Southern Halo mare La Sorbonne.

Saarland (Unbridled--Versailles Treaty, by Danzig) stands for a private fee at Darby Dan Farm (John Phillips, co-managing partner) near Lexington.
