Pimlico Special (gr. I) winner Millennium Farms' Student Council will next compete in either the $400,000 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park or the $750,000 Hollywood Gold Cup at Hollywood Park.  Both are 1 ¼-mile, grade I races run on Saturday,  June 28.  Steve Asmussen  trains the winner of the 2007 Hawthorne Gold Cup (gr. II) and Pacific Classic (gr. I).

Ro Parra, owner of Millennium Farms, reports that the horse is doing  well. “If the decision had to be made today, I'd opt for the Hollywood Gold Cup,” Parra said.  “Student Council is at Churchill Downs, and we can easily fly from Lexington to California, or take a van to New York.  We'll wait for the weights, talk to Steve and Jerry Brown, and make a decision.”

Brown, of Thorograph, is an advisor to Parra.

Bred by Lane’s End Farm, the 6-year-old son of Kingmambo out of the  Kris S. mare Class Kris was purchased by Millennium Farms in August of 2007.  Asmussen trained him up to the $500,000 Hawthorne Gold Cup, having taken over for Vladimir Cerin, who saddled Student Council for the $1 million Pacific Classic.  Following the Hawthorne race, Student Council flew to Japan for the Japan Cup Dirt, but failed to finish in the money. After three disappointing finishes in early 2008, Student Council  has regained his winning form with his victory in the Pimlico Special.

Student Council has earnings of more than $1.3 million from eight wins out of 27 starts, on both dirt and synthetic tracks.  Prior to his purchase by Parra, Student Council took the 2007 Maxxam Gold Cup Handicap at Sam Houston Race Park in Will Farish’s yellow and green silks.
