Roar, a successful California stallion, has been purchased for stallion duty at Raul Lottero’s Haras La Esperanza in Argentina, according to bloodstock agent Carlos Moore. The 15-year-old stallion will complete the current breeding season at Tom and Nancy Clark’s Rancho San Miguel near San Miguel, Calif.

A son of Forty Niner, Roar shuttled to Argentina several times and was that country’s leading sire in 2005. He has sired six Argentine champions and one Panamanian champion. In the United States, his stakes winners include two-time grade II winner Roar Emotion and 11-time stakes winner Coach Jimi Lee.

Roar began his stallion career at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky. He has sired 42 stakes winners and the earners of $20.8 million.

Roar won or placed in nine of a dozen races and earned $487,507.  At 3, he captured the Jim Beam (gr. II) and Swale (gr. III) Stakes. Roar is one of four graded stakes winners from grade II winner Wild Applause (by Northern Dancer).
