Darley Australia's 2008 Fees
Sheikh Mohammed's Darley, which will be standing 28 stallions in Australia in 2008, has set its fees for the upcoming breeding season. Champion sprinter and Australia’s leading first-season sire Exceed And Excel will head the roster. Exceed And Excel, who has enjoyed a fine season with his first crop of 2-year-olds, will stand for $110,000 (about $105,000 in U.S. funds). Returning to Australia from the United States are Elusive Quality , who will stand for $82,500; Bernardini, whose fee is $55,000; and Street Sense , who also will stand for $55,000. Also making the trip from the States are Consolidator, Any Given Saturday , and Henny Hughes. With the news that Darley has received approval to purchase Woodlands Stud, Darley will complement its existing roster with eight formidable stallions that are already familiar to Australasian breeders. Included are Danehill’s son Commands, who will stand at $66,000. and Lonhro, who will stand for $55,000. Announcing Darley’s fees, general manager Oliver Tait said, “Sheikh Mohammed’s goal is to stand the world’s best stallions. Our roster for 2008 is our best ever, and it has extraordinary strength and depth. Our six new stallions form the best credentialed and most exciting line-up of young stallions we’ve ever offered. We are also thrilled to be welcoming the Woodlands stallions and clients to Darley. The stallions really do complement our roster as they offer some of the finest Australian pedigrees to breeders.” The Woodlands stallions will remain standing at their current locations in 2008. Manduro, who was previously earmarked to shuttle, will unfortunately not travel from Ireland to Australia this season to enable him to recover fully from the racing injury he sustained last year.
