The first winners for graded stakes winners Omega Code  and Sir Cherokee won May 24. Omega Code’s daughter Bea D J Code won at two furlongs in :21.94 at Calder Race Course. She races as a homebred for her trainer, Albino A. Rossi.

A Florida-bred, Bea D J Code is the third winner from three foals of racing age out of the stakes-placed D. J. Cat mare Bea D J.

Omega Code (Elusive Quality  —Tin Oaks, by Deputy Minister) stands for $7,500 at Hartley/De Renzo, Walmac South near Ocala, Fla.

Sir Cherokee’s initial winner, Need a Name, won at five furlongs in :59.55 at Churchill Downs in his first start. Bred in Kentucky by Richard J. Forbush, the gelding  races for trainer Merrill R. Scherer and Gus Goldsmith.

Need a Name is the third winner from four starters from the winning Lost Code mare Lost Command.

A grade II winner, Sir Cherokee (Cherokee Run—La Cucina, by Last Tycoon) stands for $7,500 at Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm near Lexington.
