Change Up, despite not having started since early April during the Keeneland meeting, looks strong against five rivals in Monday’s $100,000 Winning Colors Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs. She’ll have to be to top defending winner Miss Macy Sue.

Miss Macy Sue, who races for Roll Reroll Stables, won the race last year in 1:08.68. She then shipped to Prairie Meadows to take the Salyorville Stakes. This year, the now 5-year-old daughter of Trippi   won an allowance race at Oaklawn, then faded late against Intangeroo and a tough bunch in the Humana Distaff Stakes (gr. I) on the Kentucky Derby undercard.

Miss Macy Sue is trained by Kelly Von Hemel.

Change Up , a 4-year-old Distorted Humor   chestnut filly, is trained by Steve Margolis and races as a homebred for Richard, Bertram, and Elaine Klein. She is out of the Mt. Livermore mare Round Robin.

A two-time stakes winner as a 2-year-old, including a convincing score in the one-mile Pocahontas Stakes (gr. III) under the Twin Spires, Change Up won her ’08 debut going seven furlongs at Gulfstream Park. Since then, she ran second in the Hurricane Bertie Handicap (gr. III) and was fifth over the Polytrack at Keeneland in the Vinery Madison Stakes (gr. II).

Change Up rattled off a 1:01 2/5 five-furlong drill Sunday.

Another strong challenger is the Tom Amoss-trained Graeme Six, winner of the Pan Zareta and Carousel Stakes this winter before finishing eighth in the Humana Distaff. Last July, she ran second to Dream Rush in the Prioress Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park.

Winning Colors Stakes (gr. III), Monday, May 26, Churchill Downs, $100,000, six furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares. Approximate post: 5:51 EDT
