Derby Trial winner Macho Again will skip the Preakness and instead run in the Ohio Derby.

From Churchill Downs

Trainer Dallas Stewart said the morning of May 9 that West Point Thoroughbreds’ Macho Again would bypass the May 17 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and instead point to the $300,000 Ohio Derby (gr. II) at Thistledown May 31.

The son of Macho Uno  has won three of eight starts, for earnings of $143,761. He most recently took the April 26 Derby Trial Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Stewart also said Overbrook Farm’s Honest Pursuit, an allowance winner at Churchill Downs May 2, would bypass the May 16 Black-Eyed Susan (gr. II) at Pimlico and instead point to the May 31 Dogwood (gr. I) at Churchill Downs.
