Eleven horses died in a barn fire the morning of April 19 at Fabien Ouaki’s Fab Oak Stable near Versailles, Ky. The identity of the horses has not been released because of an investigation.

Details were sketchy. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Ouaki, who lives in Paris, France, has bred and raced several successful runners. His most recent star, Nownownow, won last year’s inaugural Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in the Fab Oak name. Fab Oak, in partnership with trainer Patrick Biancone, won a grade I event with Nownownow’s sire, Whywhywhy.
