An Is It True filly turned in the fastest quarter-mile work Wednesday during the second session of the under tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training. She stopped the clock in :21 while breezing over the auction firm’s synthetic Safetrack surface in Central Florida.
Consigned by Circle D Thoroughbreds, the chestnut filly is the first foal out of the 6-year-old unraced Tiger Ridge mare Lady Blue Eyes. Other family members include South African group I winner Crimson Waves.
Four horses were the quickest at an eighth of a mile, each posting a time of :10. They were a Deputy Wild Cat – Gold Choice colt named Choice Cat, consigned by Hendry Training Stables, agent; a Pure Precision – Half Gold colt, consigned by Woodside Ranch, agent; a Buddha – Judith’s Gamble filly, consigned by Cecil and Ojia Stewart, agents; and a Black Mambo – Listentothebells colt, consigned by Nick de Meric, agent.
An Omega Code filly was the fastest at three-eighths of a mile, covering the distance in :33 3/5. Consigned by Tony Bowling and Bobby Dodd, agents, the bay 2-year-old is the first foal produced from the 11-year-old added-money winner Laurica (by Tactical Advantage).
The second session of the under tack show was for Hip Nos. 347-690 in the spring auction’s catalog. Tuesday’s first session was for Hip Nos. 1-346.
The third session, which is for Hip Nos. 691-1036 is scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m. (EDT). The fourth and final session, for Hip Nos. 1037-1381 will be held Friday and will start at the same time.
The spring sale is scheduled for April 21-24.
