Dominguez Lands Mount on Monba

With Edgar Prado deciding to ride Adriano in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), Ramon Domiguez was named by trainer Todd Pletcher to ride Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) winner Monba.

Dominguez, who, ironically, rode Adriano in his first four career starts, has never been on Monba, but has ridden several of Pletcher’s top horses, finishing second in the 2006 Kentucky Derby aboard Bluegrass Cat. He also rode Sam P. for Pletcher in last year’s Derby.

Rene Douglas, who rode Monba in his first career starts, likely will be aboard the Bill Mott-trained Z Humor in the Derby.

Meanwhile, agent Ron Anderson said Wednesday that despite persistent rumors, Garrett Gomez will remain on Court Vision in the Run for the Roses.
