At The Moment Stables’ Lady Belsara, the Keeneland track record-holder for 6½ furlongs on Polytrack, has been retired, according to Steve Kintz, father of trainer Matt Kintz.

“We were going to bring her down to the (April 9) Vinery Madison (gr. II), but after she worked a bullet :59 3/5 at Turfway (April 2), Craig Huston (assistant to Matt Kintz) noticed a little heat and filling,” Steve Kintz said. “This would take four months, and now we still have the opportunity to get to the breeding shed.”

A 5-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Boundary out of the Unbridled mare Wolfendale Island, Lady Belsara set the 6½-furlong mark of 1:14.41 on April 19, 2007. A winner of the Chicago Handicap (gr. III) at Arlington Park and the Wishing Well Stakes at Turfway, Lady Belsara retires with a record of 13-6-1-3 with earnings of $248,864.

Lady Belsara, who displayed a fondness for Polytrack, made her last career start in the St. Patrick’s Day Stakes against male sprinters at Turfway. That race was to serve as a prep for the Vinery Madison.
