Hong Kong Jockey Harrison Injured

Jockey David Harrison was taken to intensive care after his mount My Chief took a heavy fall at Hong Kong's Sha Tin racecourse May 30 according to The Racing Post.

The fall happened soon after the start of a six-furlong sprint with My Chief appearing to clip the heels of another runner, unseating Harrison. At first the injury did not seem too serious as the Welshman appeared to be conscious immediately after the fall. However, on arriving at Sha Tin Prince of Wales Hospital, Harrison was placed in the intensive care unit.

Apart from revealing the jockey is expected to undergo X-rays on Thursday morning, no other news has been issued.

Harrison has enjoyed considerable success since returning to the former colony in February, gaining plenty of rides for leading trainer Brian Kan, though My Chief was trained by Australian Bruce Hutchinson. Riding in Europe last summer, his victories included the Irish St. Leger (Ire-I) on Arctic Owl and he partnered the same horse to finish fifth in the Melbourne Cup (Aust-I).
