Kingmambo, who missed several days of breeding because of a neurological problem, has returned to action at William S. Farish's Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky.
The plan is to have Kingmambo cover a mare a day. “He covered one mare Saturday (March 15), then one on Sunday, then one Monday,” said farm manager Mike Cline. “He seems to be improving.”
Kingmambo, who stands for $250,000, is booked to 60 mares. He covered 65 mares in each of the last two breeding seasons. The 18-year-old son of Mr. Prospector out of the Nureyev mare Miesque has sired 73 stakes winners.
