Oprah Winney, a grade II-winning daughter of Royal Academy, has been retired from racing and booked to Ghostzapper. She is boarded at Hidden Brook (Sergio de Sousa, managing partner) near Paris, Ky.

Bred in New York by Gatsas Thoroughbreds, Oprah Winney scored her big win in the 2007 Barbara Fritchie Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Laurel for Sanford Goldfarb, Michael Dubb, and Bunch of Characters Stable. She captured five other added-money races and placed in six others, including last year's Vagrancy Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park.

Oprah Winney won or placed in 15 of 18 races and earned $593,989. The first foal from the Woodman mare Mere Presence, she is scheduled to be offered as part of the Hidden Brook consignment to one of the November breeding stock sales.
