John Franks Sale Has 191 Horses

The catalog for the 6th annual John Franks Memorial sale of 2-year-olds in training has 191 horses. The auction will be conducted March 30, beginning at 10 a.m. (CDT) at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Louisiana. An under tack show will be held on March 29, starting at noon. The sale also offers a pair of $100,000 races restricted to 2-year-olds that pass through the auction ring.

Stallions with progeny in the auction include Dixieland Band, More Than Ready  , Stormy Atlantic  , Sky Mesa  , Pleasant Tap, Point Given  , and Holy Bull  .

Stemmans, which conducts the auction, scheduled its start for two hours earlier than in the past and also decided not to hold the paddock mixed sale, which was conducted immediately following the juvenile auction in prior years.

“Our focus in firmly on making this the best sale possible and by focusing all of our time and resources on just one sale we feel we can achieve that goal,” said Stemmans president Charlotte Stemmans Clavier.
