Live racing at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pa. was canceled Feb. 22 after a snowstorm dumped around six inches of snow in the Central Pennsylvania area.

“Clearing the racetrack is difficult with the warming temperatures in the afternoon,” said Rob Marella, director of racing. “We will remove it tonight and move ahead to resume racing tomorrow evening.”

Live racing is scheduled to resume Feb. 23 at 6:45 p.m. The nine-race program will include the first $50,000 claiming race in track history, and a record $128,000 in overnight purse distribution.

Current conditions in Grantville include a high of 32 degrees and sleet, with temperatures rising into the mid-30's Feb. 23, with some snow showers possible.
