Jockey Pat Day earned three victories at Churchill Downs on Sunday to move to within one win of the 8,000 mark. The Hall of Fame jockey will attempt to achieve the landmark Thursday at Churchill Downs. He is booked on five mounts that day.
On Sunday, Day booted home even-money favorite Music Score ($4) in the second race, Overbrook Farm's homebred Mountain Range ($6) in the fifth, and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) hopeful Buckle Down Ben ($3.80) in the eight race.
Day leads the jockey standings at the Churchill Downs meet.
In his only mount Monday at Belmont Park, Day rode Oaklawn Handicap (gr. I) winner Traditionally to a ninth-place finish in the $750,000 Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I).
