IEAH Stables has reached an agreement to acquire a majority ownership interest in the undefeated Pure Clan, a leading contender for the May 2 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs. She will race in the silks of IEAH Stables, and current owner Lewis Lakin retained a piece of ownership in the deal.

Pure Clan, a 3-year-old daughter of Pure Prize– Gather the Clan, by General Assembly, has won her four starts by a combined margin of 12 ¾ lengths. She has not raced since November of last year when she won the Golden Rod Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Downs by two lengths, but is currently in training at Oaklawn Park.

She will remain in the barn of trainer Robert Holthus at Oaklawn, where she has put in a pair of breezes in preparation for her next start – the $100,000 Honeybee Stakes (gr. III) March 16. From there, the grade II $250,000 Fantasy Stakes, also at Oaklawn and scheduled for April 6, would serve as her final prep for the Kentucky Oaks. Both Oaklawn races will be run at 1 1/16 miles.

The Kentucky Oaks will be run at 1 1/8 miles.
