Pat Day visited the Churchill Downs winners' circle on four occasions Saturday to move to within four races of 8,000 career victories.The Hall of Fame rider is named to ride seven horses at the Louisville track Sunday, when he will seek to become the third jockey in North American racing to reach the 8,000-win plateau. On Monday, he will ride at Belmont Park, where he will guide Oaklawn Handicap (gr. I) winner Traditionally in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I).Day nearly rode five winners at Churchill Saturday. In the feature, the 1 1/16-mile Dogwood Stakes, he rallied 1-2 favorite Love At Noon in the stretch, but missed by a neck on Mike Pegram's Bob Baffert trainee. He came right back in the nightcap, however, winning aboard Ludovicus, who paid $9 for the win. His other winners on the card were Storm Passage ($5.20), Excellent Luck ($4.60), and Black Truffle ($12.20).
